Last week on Sunday I attended an Instagram meet up put together by Jill (@shineononyoucraydiamond) and Rita (@mamacita.rita) from the online community @minnstameets at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN. The Walker is considered to be one of the nations “Big Five” museums for modern art.
As with every Minnstameet I have been to, there was a great turn out of photographers from the Twin Cities eager to exchange stories and discuss things like camera equipment and the latest and greatest iPhone app.
The two and a half hour get together allowed us free range access to the museum and started in the Sky Room which over looks Downtown Minneapolis, The Basilica of Saint Mary, Highway 94, Loring Park, and the Irene Hixon Whitney Bridge. Next we gathered outside on an observation deck for a group photograph before heading back inside the museum to check out the #ordinary pictures exhibit, which features work by some 45 individual artists.
My favorite part about these events is how you can find a friend and practice taking some very interesting and unique photographs in amazing places that would normally be off limits. The photos above are of Instagrammers @sammysltr and @teresaneuhaus who both have some very cool work!
As the night wrapped up we headed back up to the Sky Room to have some appetizers and refreshments and take a few more pictures before exchanging our good byes. All fellow Instagrammers pictured above are: @xxdane_burnsxx, @chyupp, @rebeccazenefski, @kimlycurry, @samholt38, @marcacoleman, @lordhamlet73, @mamacita.rita, and @lykke_mpls. check out their pages for awesome photography!
See you next time!
